CIRP Graduates 300+ psychology students at monumental graduation


CIRP, Sri Lanka’s premier psychology school marked a milestone in the history of Sri Lankan higher education industry by graduating over 300 students at their 2023 graduation. During a grand event held on 21st January 2023 at Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Center, 342 students in total graduated with their respective qualifications in undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications. This is the biggest number of psychology students to graduate at a single event in the history of Sri Lanka.

Apart from being awarded with their respective degrees, 15 Gold medals for recognition of academic excellence in their respective programs, Undergraduate & Postgraduate research excellence awards and the award for the most outstanding students was also presented at the ceremony.

Mr.Shamil Akbar won the postgraduate research excellence award and Ms.Beverly Bastianzs the undergraduate award. Mr. Janith Ittapana was honored with the title “ Most Outstanding student of the year.

Dr. Ranjith Batuwanthudawe, the Dean of School of Psychology & Behavioral Sciences of CIRP declared opened the graduation ceremony and the conferring of degrees was done by Prof. Anil Gunathilake, Dean of Health & Life Science of CIRP, Kiron Shenoy, Director –International Strategy of CIRP, Prof. Sri Kandiah from University of Southampton UK and Pamela Stag representing CIRP’s Australian Partners.

Prof. Sri delivered the graduation speech and Mr.Shamil Akbar and Ms.Beverly Bastianzs were granted the honor of addressing the graduation representing postgraduate and undergraduate students respectively.

Event was a great success with over 800 guests including the Academics of CIRP, Representatives of CIRP’s international partners and parents. Graduation ceremony received a wide-spread media publicity with almost all State and Private media reporting the event in mainstream media as well as digital platforms.
